THE PROJECT OF A PARTNERSHIP

The project for the qualification and structuring of the Literary Tourist Route “Viagem do Elefante” is promoted by Territórios do Côa- Associação de Desenvolvimento Regional, a non-profit private entity working on the sustainable regional development and participation in the Côa Valley territory and to the improvement of social, cultural and material conditions of life in the communities and areas covered.

The implementation of this project is carried out through close cooperation with a group of organizations in the territory administration and industrial sectors. From the start, the close partnership with Fundação José Saramago was essential for the installation, following and monitoring of this Route’s development. The Municipalities of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Pinhel, Almeida, Guarda, Sabugal, Belmonte, Fundão, Mêda and Lisbon are noteworthy promoters of this initiative. This project also counts with the support of Direção Regional de Cultura do Centro (DRCC) and Entidade Regional de Turismo de Portugal.
